The Director of Extended Programs will be one of eight senior administrators reporting directly to the Head of School. The Director of Extended Programs will be the Chief administrator responsible for all programs occurring outside of the academic day or the academic year. Some of these programs include athletics, summer programs, after-school activities, academic teams and clubs, and our before- and after-school supervisory programs. The responsibilities of this position will include spearheading program schedules and hiring of staff; supervising, directing and evaluating staff; developing and overseeing program budgets; developing and maintaining activity schedules; recommending policies and procedures; managing communication with parents, faculty and staff; serving on the Administrative Leadership Team; and other duties as required.
Sycamore School is an independent, co-educational day school serving the needs of over 400 academically gifted students in Preschool through Grade 8. Founded in 1985, Sycamore is the only school in Indiana, and one of a few in the nation, where the entire program is designed to meet the needs of gifted learners. The first Director of Extended Programs at Sycamore school will need to have strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives, well-developed interpersonal skills, flexibility regarding working hours, and a high level of energy. A bachelor’s degree, experience in independent schools, experience managing people, and experience with gifted students are all important.
