Orange County REMC is a rural electric cooperative located in southern Indiana. The cooperative is headquartered in Orleans, Indiana and serves approximately 8,600 meters and 1,100 miles of line to homes, farms, schools, businesses, and industries.
The cooperative has an opening for a qualified journeyman lineworker.
The position requirements include a high school diploma, successful completion of a power line apprenticeship program, and experience working with overhead and underground electric distribution lines and facilities, including line construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Hot line work experience is required. The position requires knowledge of RUS line specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code and OSHA Rules and Regulations.
A third/fourth year apprentice will be considered. Training and experience for the apprenticeship position include a high school diploma and successful completion of electrical courses, education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the third/fourth year apprentice classification. The apprentice will need to successfully complete their training through Hoosier Energy Apprenticeship Training and Safety (HEATS) program. Under direct supervision, the apprentice will assist lineworkers to acquire skills required in performing construction, operations, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and facilities in accordance with the cooperative safety rules and practices.
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain an Indiana Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and will be required to live within 45 minutes legal driving time from the office. A pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check are required. The cooperative offers a comprehensive benefit package.
