The Associate Director of Admissions is a part of a dynamic team of experienced admission professionals. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Management. An expert verbal and textual communicator, the Associate Director of Admission works with a variety of constituencies and is an authentic, astute and capable relationship builder. Previous experience in an enrollment management position with recruitment expertise and excellent organizational management is a key component of the qualifications for this role. With pointed responsibilities that require objectivity and impeccable ethics, this position will serve as an important example of The Elisabeth Morrow School mission and strategic vision.
The Associate Director of Admissions will be expected to professionally and effectively market the school throughout New Jersey and New York by sharing the EMS story in a compelling way. A successful Associate Director of Admission will yield a measurable increase in market awareness of the unique attributes of The Elisabeth Morrow School’s Twos-through-eighth grade education and a marked increase in commitments by mission appropriate EMS families.
This is a 12-month position which begins on July 1, 2020 and sometimes requires evening and weekend responsibilities.
Essential job functions include:
Coordinate closely with the Director of Enrollment Management on a heightened and creative outreach strategy to forge essential relationships with feeder schools and organizations as well as a variety of other regional communities
Create deep connection with prospective families through critical, first impression activities including in-person and virtual tours, initial conversations and provision of targeted information
Provide prospective family support via careful, deliberative follow-up
Process applications through to committee stage, acceptance and strategic yield activities
Oversee student visits and administer assessments
Coordinate Student Ambassador Program
Participate in and help to coordinate virtual, after-school, evening, and weekend admission events and fairs
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management
Desired skills and experience include:
Successful in independent school admission preferred; higher education and international school admission experience valued
Prior teaching and/or a professional understanding of a lower and/or middle school curriculum as well as child development would bring particularly valuable skills to the EMS admission team
Proficiency in social media and strong technology and database management skills; experience with Ravenna preferred
Non-English language proficiency and familiarity with intl. populations desirable
A collaborative, collegial, and creative nature with energy and drive and an ease in sharing joy; superior communication skills
Ability to be a good listener and bring an understanding of client management
Appreciation of what is needed to support a diverse school community
Willingness to continue to grow through professional development
BA required, advanced degree a plus
