Fair Dermody Consulting Engineers is looking for a self-motivated Civil/Structural Engineer interested in working for a company who values work-life balance and flexibility while producing professional, commonsense solutions for our clients. We are a small engineering firm looking to grow to meet our client's increasing demand.
Projects will consist of a broad scope of railroad engineering issues including bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, bridge inspection, tunnel rehabilitation, track design, and track rehabilitation. Tasks will include managing all project phases including but not limited to inspection, permitting, design, bid, construction, and completion. To be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks' completion. The ideal candidate will also review the work of peers and communicate constructive feedback.
Work will be performed in both field and office settings. FDCE maintains clients in 12 states from Maine to Florida. Frequent site visits and overnight stays are required. The candidate can expect to travel approximately 15%-20% of the year.

BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
P.E. or ability to obtain P.E. within 1 year
4+ years' experience as a civil/structural engineer
Ability to design and develop plans and specifications for bridge and track projects
Bridge inspection experience a plus
Familiarity with AREMA preferred
Strong experience with AutoCAD LT required (Civil 3D preferred)
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with structural engineering software (RISA)
Able to perform physical strenuous work
Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs
Ability to work at heights
Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
