The Story Editor on the BlackRock Global Content and Media team will be responsible for identifying and helping communicate BlackRock's stories via modern, best-in-class storytelling techniques across multiple platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing stories from around the firm that highlight the positive impact BlackRock has on the societies in which it operates and will have a hand in producing these stories for distribution on BlackRock's owned web and media channels. While the immediate focus of the role is to demonstrate BlackRock's positive contributions in the United States, this individual will work in close coordination with colleagues in Europe on similar storytelling initiatives, leveraging insights, techniques and globally relevant narratives. The successful candidate will be a critical thinker, curious, collaborative and innovative with the ability to help produce highly engaging content with social media and mobile-first production values at top of mind. The successful candidate also will be a strong team player with strong editorial judgment about what makes a good story for BlackRock's stakeholders and will help shape the editorial priorities of storytelling through diligent analysis of content metrics.
Help shape and lead the process for uncovering and reporting stories from around the firm's diverse set of business units (in the form of video, audio, infographics and data viz) about BlackRock for development, production and distribution on BlackRock's owned channels.
Keep this content in line with the firm's overall content strategy, the CMO's vision and team's editorial calendar
Work closely with internal partners, including individual business teams, communications and compliance to reimagine how stories are produced for wider, public consumption
Help with distribution strategy (including paid promotion and SEO)
Work closely with external agencies, videographers, graphic artists and video editors on story briefings, planning processes on tight deadlines
Write compelling social media copy in line with social media best practices
Help manage editorial calendar and editorial meetings
Skills and Experience Required:
7-10 years experience in digital journalism or communications, in a high-output, daily deadline setting or working in the content function within a global marketing organization
A "reporter-at-heart" who can tease out, find and report and edit stories in close collaboration with BlackRock's business units
Clear thinker, curious about finance and how it affects global markets and societies
Clear communicator who can turn complex topics into compelling stories and align them with the firm's mission
Creative visual storytelling skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented and multitasking skills
Excellent writing and analytical abilities
Social media expertise across multiple platforms
Strong executive presence; at ease guiding senior members of the firm through the production process
High energy, sense of urgency, decisiveness and ability to work in fast-paced, innovative environment
