The executive committee of Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as its President and Chief Executive Officer and co-CEO of C&T Enterprises. This position is open due to the upcoming retirement of their existing long-standing President and CEO. Tri-County REC, headquartered in Mansfield, PA, provides electric service to over 16,000 northcentral Pennsylvania members and will soon provide fiber to the home (FTTH) service to these members through its wholly owned subsidiary, Tri-Co Connections. In addition, Tri-County REC, in partnership with Claverack REC (Wysox, PA), owns C&T Enterprises (Lewisburg, PA) which owns Wellsboro Electric Company, Citizens’ Electric Company and Valley Energy.
A well-qualified candidate will possess the following character attributes and experience:
Strategic thinking and the ability to transform strategy into an actionable operational plan for staff
Ability to lead change and manage risk
Emotional and organizational intelligence to successfully work with the Tri-County board of directors and the Claverack CEO to successfully co-manage the C&T Enterprises organization and its staff
Communication skills to interact successfully with staff, employees, members, the general public, state and national cooperative organizations and political representatives at the local, state and national level in both normal and adverse circumstances
Technical skills in electric power and optical communication systems to successfully lead the engineering staff who design and implement these services
Financial management expertise appropriate to developing and managing a budget for a $50 million revenue organization and leading and interacting with financial staff and external auditors. Experience in development of long-range financial plans and debt-management strategies
Operational skills to ensure that Tri-County REC and its subsidiary and affiliate companies operate at high levels of customer service and efficiency while maintaining industry-leading safety levels.
Human resources expertise with respect to selecting and hiring senior staff, developing staff members to be strong leaders and potential future chief executives, and appropriately evaluating and compensating the staff and employees, both salaried and union
Experience with both regulated and competitive utilities is highly desired as both business types are present in the Tri-County and C&T Enterprises family of companies
Forward looking and growth-oriented personality and the desire to continually improve the services provided by the companies and continually search for new opportunities to grow the businesses and better serve both existing members and potential new customer groups
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 5-10 years of utility experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience at the senior level. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, electrical engineering, accounting and finance or related degree is required.
