The Grosse Pointe Academy seeks a second-grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. The ideal candidate should have previous elementary teaching experience, a degree in elementary education and a willingness to contribute to school activities. While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to plan, organize and implement an early elementary instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic and creative potential. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students and an understanding of the developmental needs of students.
Team teach with current second-grade teacher
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Support the academic, social, and emotional development of each child
Engage students in language arts, math, social studies, and science curriculum
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Use Google Chrome technology to support instruction and remote learning
Provide appropriate assignments and materials for students
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments
Provide appropriate feedback on student assignments
Observe, evaluate, and maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Communicate student progress to parents on a regular basis
Keep up-to-date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
Work with colleagues on cross-curricular projects
Supervise lunch or recess duty and dismissal duty on a regular basis
Receive students and parents as well as faculty, staff, and administration in a friendly, courteous manner, and be sensitive to how her/his demeanor is reflective of the School
