This position, under minimal supervision, plays an integral role for all aspects of technical research on accounting and financial reporting issues and document conclusions in technical memos.  The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert on specialized accounting areas, including but not limited to, share-based compensation accounting, earnings per share, goodwill impairment assessment, leases, segment determination, asset impairment analysis, and business combinations.  The incumbent also supports timely completion and filing of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) periodic reports (i.e. Forms 10-Q/K and 8-K) for UGI’s SEC registrants in accordance with the accounting standards generally accepted in the U.S. (“GAAP”) and the SEC regulations and quarterly and annual financial statements for UGI’s non-SEC registrants by assisting in the preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures and assists in various projects involving moderately complex accounting and financial reporting issues.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting

• Under minimal direction, supervision and guidance, perform technical research on moderately complex accounting and financial reporting issues using various research tools and document basis for conclusion in technical memos.  Research accounting pronouncements and SEC rules and regulations and determine impact on the Company and its subsidiaries, disseminate relevant new emerging developments in new accounting guidance and SEC regulations to all stakeholders within the organization.  Assist in providing technical accounting support in complex transactions, including debt/equity financing activities, business combination, segment/reporting unit determination, and asset impairment analysis and maintaining and developing the Company’s accounting policies.

Share-based Compensation Accounting

• Working in close collaboration with UGI’s Corporate Accounting and Human Resources groups, participate in accounting for UGI’s share-based compensation for UGI Corporation and its subsidiaries.  Prepare share-based compensation footnote disclosures included in the Company’s SEC periodic filings and non-SEC financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulation.  

External Reporting

• Assist in the external reporting processes, including quarterly and annual financial statements and earnings release of UGI Corporation, as well as the Company’s standalone financial statements of its subsidiaries.  Assist, as needed, in preparation of schedules and analyses of significant components of the financial statements and other analyses requested by senior management and complete moderately complex accounting and financial reporting processes.  

Lease Accounting

• Provide technical accounting support for lease transactions, including assisting local accounting groups in assessment of accounting impacts on new, modified or terminated agreements involving lease components. In close coordination with the third party service provider, oversee governance and administration of the lease accounting software.  Act as the central point of contact for lease accounting software inquiries and training for users.  

Other duties

• Provide supports to other groups within the organization (i.e., Treasury, Legal, Financial Planning, Investor Relations, Tax, SOX, etc.) related to accounting and financial reporting matters. Assist in ad-hoc projects as needed.
