The Early Childhood Education program (ECE) at Main Line Reform Temple Beth
Elohim (MLRT) is looking for a warm, creative, and experienced individual to serve as its Early Childhood Director. This full time, full year position will lead the ECE in its caring and nurturing environment for children from 2 years-old through Kindergarten.
The ideal candidate will, through inspirational leadership and a passion for early childhood
education, foster a stimulating and innovative environment where the 150 children currently
enrolled can learn and grow. The Early Childhood Director will oversee daily
administrative and educational components of the school including curriculum development,
staff supervision, parental involvement, and budget maintenance.

Interested candidates should have strong leadership, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Judaism for early learners and/or a knowledge of the main tenants of Reform Judaism are a plus.
Core responsibilities include:
Oversee all phases of daily school operations
Supervise current staff members (26) as well as recruit, hire and train staff for both school and summer camp as needed. Oversee staff professional development.
Market ECE to new families and maintain a desirable, engaging environment where children and families want to be
Maintain family relations and communication
Coordinate all school activities
Maintain Early Childhood Education licenses and PA Department of Health compliance
Participate as a key member of the MLRT senior staff and attend regular staff meetings and related activities
Lead the program into the future with vision and energy

MLRT takes welfare and safety of staff & children seriously. Our operating procedures are aligned with guidance from the CDC, DHS, & local and state Departments of Public Health. Practices proper physical distancing, sanitation, hygiene and face masks.
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (with a minimum of 24 credits in the field) or Masters in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
Experience teaching in Early Childhood Education (5 years minimum) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Supervisory/Leadership experience in Education (3 years minimum)
Knowledge of NAEYC, PA Early Learning Standards, and Keystone Stars
Desire to be a team player, demonstrate leadership skills including organizational and administrative abilities, and excellent communication and customer service skills
Must be proficient with using a computer, physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and working both indoors or outdoors

Our Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program, pre-COVID, had an enrollment of approximately 150 students. The program begins at 6 months with a mommy and me program, the school begins at 18 months through a full day Kindergarten program. The program also includes early care and extended care and accepts children that are not toilet trained and is able to accept children with learning needs. The ECE is a community within the larger Temple community and provides opportunities for families to learn, socialize and engage in social justice and is there for families during important life cycle events.
Lower Merion township is located approximately 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia, is accessible by public transportation and is 40% Jewish, has 6 congregations, several conservative and several associated early childhood programs. A large portion of our members work in Center City.
