Department Description The Plant Operations & Maintenance (PO&M) Department is a 24 hour, seven day a week operation responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of buildings, systems, and grounds at the UC Davis Health System that includes 148 acres and structures that total 4 million GMSF. Plant Operations & Maintenance is one of the largest operations and maintenance support providers to clinical, administrative, research, SOM and SON departments throughout the Health System. UC Davis Health System is one of several UC campuses that have their own cogeneration, central power plants. Cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power or CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, both of which are used throughout the Medical Center Campus and is supported by Plant Operations & Maintenance 24x7x365 Job Summary - Final Filing Date : January 29, 2021

THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities The Facilities Operations Manager leads the Plant Operations & Maintenance department, ensuring that all facilities on the UC Davis Sacramento Campus function appropriately to support the mission and goals of UC Davis Health. Responsibilities include: -
The continuous operation and maintenance of buildings with a total of 3.9 million square feet, including a 627-bed acute care hospital, outpatient clinics, an outpatient surgery center and several research facilities -
Managing an operating budget of over $29 Million -
Supervision of 6 FTE and 107 indirect FTE -
Partnering with facility staff, architects, and construction firms as relevant to complete design & cost projections and manage facility deployment that will be supported and maintained by PO&M -
PO&M Administrator on Duty providing 24/7 support to PO&M staff on shift and UC Davis Health for urgent issues after hours, weekends and holidays -
Providing senior leadership to the enterprise related to relevant projects, initiatives and issues -
The operation and maintenance of a 26 MW Cogeneration Central Plant -
The development and maintenance of critical utilities and an extensive distribution system for electrical chilled water, heating water and steam utilities to serve the campus -
Energy conservation and monitoring programs designed to foster efficient use of resources -
Grounds maintenance for a campus with 150 acres -
Skilled crafts for building maintenance and remodel group that includes electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plaster, tile and sign fabrication -
Overseeing Special Events support and move crew -
An extensive preventive maintenance program consisting of approximately 11,831 work orders maintaining over 8,900 pieces of equipment providing support to the clinical enterprise Required Qualifications -
Bachelor's degree and/or equivilant experience in engineering, urban design, city planning, Hospital Facilities Design & Construction, Hospital Campus Facilities Operations or other relevant Hospital facilities role -
Extensive facilities & maintenance management & supervision experience in a healthcare setting -
Knowledge of Project Management principles and best-practices -
Experience managing budgets for facilities projects and maintenance -
Thorough understanding of State and Federal laws, regulations, accreditation, and compliance requirements in a healthcare setting -
Experience leading large, complex facilities and maintenance projects -
Experience providing communication about facilities projects and initiatives to diverse constituency groups, including senior leadership, front-line staff and external stakeholders -
Experience conducting HR functions such as recruiting, coaching and developing staff, talent management & conducting performance evaluations -
Ability to leverage data & research to make strategic decisions -
Excellent communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, build partnerships and demonstrate political acumen in stressful situations Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience as an architect, engineer, landscape architect, or other facilities-related roles
- Experience participating as part of a Hospital Incident Command System team for disaster and emergency preparedness
