At East Central Energy, our System Administrator serves members by safely providing reliable service to members by administering the co-op’s Server environment, Local Area Network and Wide Area Network for ensuring network access to all employees and contractors. THE POSITION We are currently looking to fill the position of System Administrator. This position is located in Braham, MN, and reports to the Manager of Information Technology. This person will administer physical, virtual and cloud server environment and administer virtual, wireless local area and wide area networks. Additional responsibilities include assisting in maintaining Cisco firewalls, Wi-Fi access points, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco routers and switches. They also assist in maintaining all computer equipment, and troubleshooting to solve network errors and problems, including physical and virtual desktops and all laptops. The System Administrator must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a high level of integrity, while respecting and maintaining confidentiality. QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Education: Two-year technical degree, plus a minimum of 5 years Server/WAN/LAN administration and maintenance experience; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Personal Effectiveness: An individual in this position must be able to communicate with employees to diagnose system problems and vendors regarding system enhancements needed. A successful individual will also prioritize multiple under strict and varying deadlines and clearly communicate ideas and facts in writing and orally. Cognitive Reasoning: Qualified candidates will perform basic mathematical computations for determining software usage. A successful individual will also resolve network and telephone systems problems and data loss through research and investigation of documentation and drawing from experience. Technical Skills: An individual in this position must understand technology as it relates to email, server, cloud, and remote desktop environments; understands firewalls, network routers, wireless access points and switches; networking basics such as troubleshooting, design and implementation of WAN/LAN and cabling. Work Environment: Safe working practices must always be understood and utilized. The individual will work in an office environment and operate office equipment. Employees may be required to work in a stressful environment while working under strict deadlines for various projects.
