Summary of Department Focus

Our IOT & Engineering Team specializes in delivering the most complex projects which require cross-functional technical skill-sets in challenging and dynamic project environments. The BU's area of focus is Product Engineering, Plant Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Operations Management, Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things and Consumer Internet of Things. The team has presence across industries, with extensive traction in Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Telecom Energy and Utilities, Retail, Automotive and Consumer Goods. Clients count on our CP expertise to help them architect the bridge between the physical world of sensors, machines, industrial processes, places, people and the digital world of software, IoT platforms and data.

Your key roles and responsibilities

To strengthen the IOT & Engineering Practice in Germany we are looking for a Senior IOT Architect in the area of Product Lifecycle Management to support us in building a strong delivery team.

  • As an IOT Architect you will support our customers to design and implement solutions around products and services by integrating IOT in various solutions and services.
  • Engage with customers in Germany and identify areas of transformation through IoT, envision and articulate potential business solutions and value propositions to the customer
  • Envision and develop end-to-to solution architecture for IoT based business solutions spanning devices, gateways, connectivity, cloud, apps, integration, analytics and security layers, addressing functional and non-functional aspects
  • Evangelize IoT platform products, work with business product owners, and define architecture road-maps support and guide project managers and implementation teams.
  • Expertize in Cloud computing, with implementation experience in either of Azure, AWS, Google or Bosch IoT cloud.
  • Sizing of solution components, working out costing, deriving key commercial matrices like TCO, CAPEX and OPEX, providing trade-offs, and contributing to pricing strategies.
  • Work in implementation teams and provide architecture governance, technical and design guidance to implementation teams, own, articulate and defend the end-to-end solutions with customer stakeholders.
  • Support sales by authoring competent solution proposals working with internal stake holders, product owners and third party technology partners. Articulate and Defend solutions with customer stakeholders

Your profile

  • 10+ years of experience in platform architecture and engineering non-functional including availability, scalability, reliability, performance, interoperability.
  • B. Sc/ M. Sc or similar degree
  • Knowledge of End-to-end security for IoT security spanning across edge layer security, application, transport, network, cloud and infrastructure security controls, IDAM as well as data privacy and protection controls.
  • Knowledge and awareness on IoT gateways products, agents, sensors and devices.
  • Own and establish best practices in architecture, design and development, command over DevOPs process and tools. Guide and Mentor development teams in driving best practices in engineering and software development.
  • Represent Cognizant in industry events and customer workshops and present Cognizant products and platform offerings
  • Be on top of trends and technologies on Digital, IoT, cloud, big data, analytics and AI, evaluate technologies and perform trade-offs
  • Knowledge of broad spectrum of IoT and Digital technologies including but not limited to below, deep expertise in few of them
Open source :- Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, MongoDB, MySQL, Java, Python, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, Messaging frameworks like (RabbitMQ, MosquitoMQTT etc.), Angular

  • Experience of on-site / off-shore delivery model
  • Strong experience with MS Tools: MS Project, Visio, Powerpoint, Word, Excel
  • Fluent German and English language skills (written, spoken) are a must have.
  • Other European language skills is an advantage
