DCD seeks a talented, creative and nimble Content Media Specialist to create content for a wide range of communications designed to engage internal and external audiences that are on-brand and reinforce the school’s values, mission, and child-centric program. The Content Media Specialist is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and supports the Director of Community Engagement, advancing the media and communications needs of the school by collaborating with constituencies across the entire school community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Capture and create visual and written content for use in a variety communications channels (digital and print) including newsletters, e-communications, the school’s biannual magazine, school website, social media, traditional media, and fundraising appeals. Assist with the design and production of creatives for printed and electronic materials for the following:
Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign
Admissions, including digital and printed advertising, paid social advertising, event invitations, flyers and publicity
School-wide community events including e-flyers, posters, and invitations
Assist in copywriting, sharing, and monitoring of the school’s social media channels.
Build and cultivate relationships with faculty, students, and staff in order to capture and share the school’s story through images, video, and words.
With videography and photography, capture snippets of school life including athletics, special events and assemblies and create videos and/or slideshows for sharing and building engagement with our different constituents including current parents, prospective families, and alumni.
Write short news stories to be posted on the schools website, social media channels, and weekly newsletter.
Manage and maintain the school’s digital asset management systems for still images and video content. Coordinate the schools video/photography calendar.
Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to insure brand consistency and uniformity of visual assets across all communications platforms.
Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to update website content.
Participate in the school community as a contributing member, through committee work, regular faculty/staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Provide weekly coverage for recess and lunch duties.
Participate in and support school events which may take place on an occasional evening or weekend.
Strong candidates will have:
A bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in creating and designing content (visual and written) in a marketing and communications capacity.
Extensive experience with videography, photography, and editing tools in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign).
A portfolio that demonstrates the candidates creativity, expertise and experience with both visual written storytelling and graphic design projects.
Ability to understand and navigate social media channels and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and/or learn new tech tools including website content management systems and email marketing software.
Exceptional writing skills, with a love for communicating and connection.
The ability to execute and take initiative on creative ideas and projects.
Outgoing, high energy, strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative spirit and a willingness to dive into our school community.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to juggle/plan multiple projects simultaneously and pivoting unexpectedly.
Attention to detail and a willingness to learn the nuances of communicating with different constituencies in an elementary/middle school and non-profit environment.
An eagerness to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment.
