The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has exciting opportunities for talented transportation professional(s) to join our team as a Senior Transportation Planner. The MPO is looking for a broad range of professional skills and abilities to complement our existing staff and may hire one or more candidates to ensure organizational needs are met. The core responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas: multimodal transportation planning; city planning; transit planning; project management; or grant programs. The Senior Transportation Planner may work in close coordination with municipalities, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and others to plan, prioritize, fund, and administer transportation projects that are technically sound and supported locally, at both elected and public levels. This position supports other MPO team members, prepares reports, delivers presentations, and manages complex transportation planning projects and programs in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The position may require project management skills for in-house staff and consultants.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration or a related field plus six (6) years of progressive responsible experience in project management, planning, engineering or related work. A master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of required experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job should apply. AICP or PE is preferred.
