The teaching faculty is the strength of the community of West Nottingham Academy, striving to provide the support, care, and attention necessary to meet the students where they are to develop understanding and mastery across the curriculum. The teaching faculty plan an important role in the life of the school and are in almost constant collaboration with other staff members, administrators, parents, students, and the Head of School. All faculty work closely with the Academic Dean and their Department Chairs to maintain congruency between the school’s mission and each department’s curriculum.
Candidate will work with the athletic director and admissions to reestablish West Nottingham’s lacrosse program. The head coach will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the program including, but not limited to, recruiting, organization of practice and competition, scouting, scheduling, fundraising, video and technical support, camps, and supervision of academic progress. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic in taking ownership of the program while carrying out West Nottingham’s academic and athletic missions.
Teach 5 courses
Employ creative curriculum strategies to enhance student interest in history.
Employ a variety of classroom techniques to deliver information including student-centered project-based learning.
Incorporate a focus on contemporary relevance in historical instruction.
Serve as an advisor for up to 5 students.
Attend departmental and faculty meetings, as well as all school events.
Coach/Assist 2 seasons of after school sports and/or activities
Duty Team Responsibilities – 1 weekend every 4 to 5 weekends, and 1 night during the school week.
Bachelor’s degree in Education/Math, Chemistry or related field required, Masters preferred.
At least three years of teaching experience
Boarding School experience preferred.
Former high school/college athlete preferred.
Understanding of and desire to work with students.
Proven ability to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues to build community and support student learning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity – willingness to be a fellow learner with students.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and to work independently.
Interest in and aptitude for building new programs/classes/learning experiences.
A high degree of cultural competency

We are a 9-12 grade coeducational boarding and day school located in Maryland near the picturesque Chesapeake Bay, an hour’s drive from either Philadelphia or Baltimore.
