Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Hamden Hall Country Day School is seeking a high-energy candidate for the position of Head Media Specialist. This candidate must demonstrate the ability to oversee and coordinate the operations of the Barbara Olin Taylor Learning Commons. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to promote educational technology through classroom instruction and faculty/staff professional development; to ensure that the school maintains an appropriate repository of academic databases; to ensure that the Learning Commons is a place where students can pursue both independent and collaborative learning and encourage students of all ages to read for pleasure.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Develop, implement, assess and follow up with continuous improvements in integrating technology into the curriculum.
Support teachers as they embed technology into their core curricula.
Coordinate professional development for faculty.
Seek out and regularly inform teachers of appropriate technologies and methods for teaching and learning.
Continually seek, evaluate, disseminate and implement new technologies and methods for teaching and learning.
Use current research in collaboration and technology to guide discussions.
Make and support academic technology-related purchasing recommendations during budget cycle, based on teacher needs, and assist teachers with their technology-related budget requests.
Oversee and coordinate all academic technology systems, services, and labs and document policies and procedures.
Actively participate as a member of the Technology Department, coordinating with the IT Operations manager.
Reimagine and chair the Academic Technology Committee.
Actively pursue collegial connections with other academic professional technology professionals in the area.
Oversee the library budget.
Collaborate with teachers in grades 7 -12 to encourage the development of research skills and a love of reading.
Support the K - 6 one-one program.
Act as the school’s expert in issues of copyright, citation methods, research technologies, etc.
Serve on the Curriculum Committee.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to promote a positive, collaborative working environment
A minimum of 3 years experience in academic tech/ library administration
A degree in library science or equivalent
About Hamden Hall Country Day School
Hamden Hall Country Day School is a PreSchool - Grade 12 co-educational Day School located in Hamden, CT.
Enrollment is approximately 575 students from over 35 communities. Faculty is comprised of eighty-five full and part-time teachers. Three-quarters of the faculty hold advanced degrees. The student/faculty ratio: 7 to 1 and the average class size: 13.
The campus is comprised of twelve acres located in Hamden, Conn., a residential community adjacent to New Haven. Eight major buildings including a science center, theater, and art studios including areas for ceramics, digital photography, and video production; three technology centers, library, and music suite with choral and instrumental practice rooms and classrooms.
Thirty acre athletic complex one mile north of the main campus. The Beckerman Athletic Center is a $12.5 million, 65,000-square-foot facility opened in December 2009. Includes natatorium, three basketball courts with an elevated jogging track, fitness center, multipurpose aerobics room, locker rooms, student lounge, and study center.
