Position Summary: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator ensures a welcoming and inclusive community for all members of the school; celebrates diversity; and fosters a strong sense of equity. The DEI Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the school and collaborates with the administration and faculty. The Coordinator will work with all constituency groups of the Cold Spring School community to guide in best practices in equality and inclusion work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Orient to the Cold Spring School (CSS) Community (meet with the administration, faculty, board of trustees and parents to get a sense of community culture, practices and needs, including prior work of the DEI committee).
Lead the DEI committee
Collaborate with the Director of Cold Spring School and DEI committee on a strategic DEI plan supporting the mission and values of the CSS.
Help CSS recruit more racially and culturally diverse educators and students
Help CSS build a specific, structured, interwoven curriculum with an understanding of the developmental stages of pre K-sixth grade children.
Continue and deepen antibias/antiracism training for Cold Spring teachers
Facilitate creation of/explore parent and student affinity groups
Maintain communication within the CSS community regarding the DEI strategic plan and ongoing work.
Continue ongoing work to receive feedback from the CSS community (audit/climate assessment).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in DEI work
Excellent writing and communication skills
Desire and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and work on multiple projects simultaneously
High energy, positive attitude, flexible, team player
Ability to form genuine relationships
