An opportunity exists for a part-time Neurosurgeon at the Zablocki VA Medical Center located in Milwaukee, WI. The physician will acquire dual appointment as clinical faculty with our academic affiliate, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). The remainder of effort full-time employment will be through the affiliate. This VA is one of the main teaching centers staffed with MCW faculty and with both fellowship and residency supervision and educational duties. Board eligibility or certification in Neurosurgery is required. Clinical and research experience in spinal cord injury (SCI) is highly preferred for work at the Zablocki VA and Froedtert Hospitals. Fellowship training in advanced spinal surgery with a focus on minimally invasive techniques is highly preferred. In addition to working with the SCI service in a surgical practice dedicated to the care of spine and spinal cord injury patients, the qualified candidate should have experience with successful grant writing and a track record of publication in SCI. Expertise in imaging research is encouraged since such experience will complement the current team members. The Department of Neurosurgery is closely affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin with responsibilities for fellowship, resident and medical student training. It is expected that the applicant is qualified to be appointed as a faculty member at our affiliated medical school and will participate in supervisory roles in fellowship and residency programs.
