Maintain, evaluate, and configure administrative software, production/non-production databases, and the associated servers. Major technical duties include installation and upgrade of Oracle products and application system software, monitoring and tuning system performance, establishing user access controls, database security, defining new/modified database tables, and device configuration and planning.
Provide DBA support for establishing, upgrading and maintaining the Oracle software environments, which support the college’s Administrative Computing System (ACS). These include, but are not limited to, Sungard SCT’s Banner and Diebold’s CSGold.
Implement backup and recovery procedures for Oracle databases and test regularly in conjunction with Operations.
Create, maintain and refresh required Oracle instances/databases for test and production environments.
As required, help resolve application problems.
Monitor error logs, database and log space, disk usage, user activity and resource utilization of production environment.
Create and maintain all instances, tablespaces, tables, indices and views.
Provide SQL statement tuning to improve performance. This includes, but is not limited to, re-writing SQL statements, creating new indexes and altering existing indexes.
Using software packages (e.g. OEM) and/or local scripts, monitor performance, space, Oracle database parameters and tune as required.
Troubleshoots and resolves functional and technical problems and errors.
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Utilize mobile computing beyond the confines of the office for the purpose of assisting faculty, staff, and students with information technology needs
Accessible and reachable by telephone or text messaging at times other than College business hours for the purpose of assisting faculty, staff, and students with immediate information technology needs.

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 3 years related progressive experience.
Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Must be well organized and self-motivated.
Computer skills should include Oracle RDBMS, Unix Operating System, word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
Experience with Excel and Access.
Experience with a selective residential, liberal arts college.
