The Robotics System Engineer will support the design and development of new computer and robot-assisted surgery systems, technologies, and applications to support strategic long term product development roadmap. The engineer will perform system design, integration, design review, verification and validation of multidisciplinary systems, technologies and feasibility efforts including robotics system, embedded software, electronics, mechanisms, cutting systems and surgical navigation systems to deliver robotic-assisted orthopedics solutions. The Staff Software Engineer, Robotics Systems will work in close collaboration with Program Management, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Advanced Operations and Global Quality teams for Stryker customers per the product development roadmap.
What you will do:
Participate in creating, analyzing, and proving System Error and Performance Budgets for the robotics system.
Develop control algorithms to support next generation of robotics system
Develop kinematic and dynamic modeling of robotic arm.
Develop prototype and production grade software.
Independently design and implement complex systems including system architectural design, relevant design documentation, test planning and execution.
Specialize in various technology domains - evaluate and select new technologies.
Generate innovative technologies and solutions; submits invention disclosures.
Ensure established engineering practices allow for effective, efficient, and compliant development by monitoring best industry practices and integrating them into the organization
Establish strategy for maintaining and advancing robotics expertise within department.
Participate as required in R&D departmental policies and procedure updates.
Travel as necessary for project design meetings, supplier meetings, and professional meetings.
Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success as a leader on the team.
Identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology.
Support and execute segments of complex product development to advance projects through the design /development/launch process.
Contribute to product development from concept through release.
Deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities.
What you will need :
BS degree in Robotics / Systems Engineering (or Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical), Master's / Phd or experience in similar field will be preferred.
Advanced control of robotic and/or haptic devices.
Experience in robotic modeling including kinematics and dynamics
Modeling and simulation languages e.g. MATLAB/Simulink
Real-time programming in C or C++
Familiarity with a variety of sensor, actuator, motor and controller technologies
