Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni/ae Relations

The Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni/ae Relations is responsible for the strategic design, implementation and management of a comprehensive program to secure annual operating support from all constituencies. Annual Fund strategies will include identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual gifts and will be accomplished by means of personal solicitation, printed and electronic appeals and volunteer partnerships. The Director will also implement a comprehensive alumni/ae relations program to our W+H and external communities through various events and social media platforms. The Director reports to the Assistant Head of Institutional Advancement.
Director of Annual Fund Responsibilities:
Design, implement and manage the annual giving component of the Development Office, which includes:

Help set quantitative goals to measure dollars raised and participation from all constituent groups.
Design the strategy, theme/message and calendar for the Annual Fund.
Develop and manage a prospect pool for direct Annual Fund visits and solicitations.
Coordinate all aspects of the Annual Fund – such as direct mail, personal visits requiring occasional travel, phonathon and other events, social networking, and reunion giving.
Develop training and communication strategies for parent volunteers, and members of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, including attending Development Committee Meetings.
2. Evaluate effectiveness of current Annual Fund initiatives and implement potential new directions and initiatives as appropriate.
3. Work effectively with our database to be a resource to the office for all types of analysis and regularly produce reports on the Annual Fund and other areas of giving.
4. Focus on stewardship of new and past donors throughout the year and perform research in support of donor cultivation.
Director of Alumni Relations Responsibilities:
Plan and execute major alumni/ae related events such as reunion, local alumni/ae events and encourage increased alumni/ae attendance at school events.
Promote/coordinate the Alumni/ae Awards presented at Fall Fair and Homecoming Day.
Enlist, motivate and train a corps of volunteers committed to successful alumni/ae local event planning and assist with regional alumni/ae events.
Compile and write a quarterly electronic alumni newsletter that includes class notes, notices of reunions, obituaries, and upcoming events.
Work with other campus offices on programs that involve alumni/ae.
Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Head of Institutional Advancement or Head of School.
Proficiency in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred (or other related database) and Microsoft Office suite
At least two (2) years of work experience in fundraising for not-for-profit organizations preferred
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet competing deadlines
Positive energy and a high degree of initiative
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of the advancement process, and exercise good judgment and tactfulness in all situations
Be flexible and proactive, and possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
