The Board of Directors of The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Director. The successful applicant will be a person with a passion for symphonic music that reflects the interests and characteristics of the potential audiences. We seek an individual who has a high energy level and is able to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of individuals and groups. The Orchestra’s support staff is relatively small so the Executive Director must be capable of creating an organization that operates effectively with multi-responsibilities. This involves working with: the members of the Orchestra for their needs and requirements; the music director in developing concerts of interest to the audiences within budgetary constraints; influencing and carrying out policies developed by the Board of Directors; and being the “face” and spokesperson for the Orchestra throughout the region. The Executive Director is responsible for the financial activities of the Orchestra and is expected to be an active participant in generating the funding for its various programs and activities. The applicants are required to have a baccalaureate degree and will be judged on their demonstrated abilities in: 1. Organizational competencies; e.g., program planning, fiscal expertise, personnel leadership 2. Communication skills; e.g., communicating effectively with all participants and components of the organization 3. Creative talents; e.g., developing programs of wide interest; generating new supporters The Search Committee will begin reviewing candidates on October 15, 2021, and will continue the process until the desirable person is selected. It derives its talents from both local and regional performers as well as gifted musicians from other areas of the state some from such cities as Austin and Dallas. It sponsors a number of programs in the area for youth including the Corpus Christi Youth Orchestra, the CCSO On the Go! program in the elementary schools, and the Pat Furley Education Concerts for area 4th and 5th grade students.
