The AMSA Project Coordinator for the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Director of Youth Programs, and other staff members as well as members and external stakeholders to oversee the development and implementation of AMSA projects and programs which contribute to the successful execution of AMSA’s Strategic Plan and Core Strategies:
Attract, develop, and connect meat science talent
Provide value to international meat science community
Assert our scientific leadership
Differentiate, communicate, and deliver expanded member value proposition
Diversify and strengthen our organizational funding model
Youth Program Responsibilities (~50%):
Project management and administrative support for all youth activities and education programs.
Manage online platform for all youth activities including training and competition materials.
Support social media and marketing efforts for youth activities, as well as other events.
Manage sales orders and shipping oversite for beef and pork marbling cards.
Manage hotel blocks for youth activities.
Review contracts and create menus for meat judging banquets.
Potential travel onsite to help facilitate meat judging contests, as needed.
Project Management and Administrative Duties (~50%):
Coordinate reporting on status of objectives, goals, and tasks for the AMSA Strategic Plan.
Manage AMSA Memorandum of Understandings with other organizations.
Management of receivables/payables and recordkeeping.
Assist staff in coordinating and administering multi-faceted programs and projects.
Schedule appointments, meetings, tradeshows, and reservations as needed.
Schedule and track all AMSA committee meetings including notes/minutes, as needed.
Attend AMSA Board meetings and take minutes.
Oversee content and updates for AMSA Website and App.
Organize and maintain AMSA’s file system (ex. box.net).
Supports the overall goals of the organization by performing duties as assigned.
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an agriculture major is required.
The candidate must have formal training in both meat science, and an understanding of meat judging.
Incumbent must have demonstrated the ability to be part of an effective work team, and to manage a diverse array of projects/tasks to completion. Projects must have been managed in a highly organized fashion including oversight of timelines and budgets.
Advanced computer skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ideally experience with Adobe and design programs.

Hours: Employee would work approximately 25-34 hours per week on average thorough out a typical work week of 4-5 days. Some weekend work and/or travel will be required for events.
Flexible location; ideally near a major airport. Must have access to reliable, high-speed internet. Approximately 15% travel time which could increase if needed.
