South Shore MEP firm is seeking a senior-level electrical engineer/designer with 5-7 years of related building design experience.
Performs Electrical and Fire Alarm Design functions including:
Residential and commercial load calculations
Calculations in branch circuit and motor feeder design
Sizing of over current protection devices
Raceway fill calculations
Preparation of Riser Diagrams, Floor Plans, Schedules, and Details as defined by project scope
Specification of all components of electrical designs including wiring devices, conductors, cables, conduit, panelboards and switchboards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, luminaires, fire alarm and life safety devices, etc. to meet code requirements and customer needs.
Performs on-site inspections for field verification of existing/installed systems.
Prepares complete construction drawings and specifications.
Performs pre-construction, rough, and final site inspections and prepares inspection reports and “punch” lists.
Coordinates with other disciplines throughout design phase of projects.
DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in the design of residential, commercial, and healthcare buildings.
• Design of feeders/branch circuits. • Design of telecom, security, life safety, and fire alarm systems.
Lighting design including calculations, layouts, and energy compliance (ComCheck).
Experience in Revit is a plus!
Experience in customer relations including communicating directly with clients and understanding clients’ needs.
Experience working independently with limited technical guidance and working as part of a design team.
Minimum of five years’ experience as an electrical designer.
Valid Driver’s License and the ability to provide own transportation to various site locations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of National/Massachusetts Electrical Code requirements. • Knowledge of the ICC/IECC codes. • Computer skills with MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel. • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD. • Effective written and verbal communication and impromptu problem-solving skills. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet project deadlines.
