The Regional Underwriting Manager is responsible for managing the underwriting process, pipeline management, loan quality, personnel, and deal structuring of complex mortgage transactions within their assigned region. Establishing goals and objectives for the department, ensuring proper controls and procedures exist for a timely and accurate process of credit reviews while maintaining an environment of quality, service, accuracy and efficiency.

Provide leadership and guidance to Underwriting Supervisors and Underwriters specializing in large complex jumbo mortgage transactions for high net worth clients.
Manage, mentor, train, up-skill and evaluate your team.
Primary point of contact with Regional Sales Manager, Credit Risk Management and Senior Management on mortgage transactions.
Work with members of the client's inner circle to advance their loan transaction - i.e. business managers, family office, CPA and others as required.
Monitor performance from a production and quality perspective to uphold the Firm's requirements and core values.
Directly manage and communicate appropriately on all deal escalations.
Review potential deals and assess risks and mitigants.
Ensure adherence to credit policy, all updates and mandatory Firm training.
Work in conjunction with Sr. Lending professionals to assist in structuring complex mortgage transactions.
Make sound approval and decline recommendations based on the facts of the transaction. Coach to adopt a private banking/wealth management mentality in decision making, conditioning, suspending loans and final approving loan requests.
Ensure accurate and timely pipeline management including but not limited to reports and pipeline meetings to ensure transactions are moving through the process efficiently.
Conduct staff meetings to ensure a full understanding of new initiatives, Credit Risk updates, and production updates/goals.
Work with vendors and various Firm departments to streamline processes, quality and risk assessment.
Participate in an effective manner in meetings and training sessions.
Foster an environment of high energy and continuous improvement.
Proficient with Regulatory Changes, FNMA and Nonconforming Loans.
Additional responsibilities as required by management.
Travel Required: 5-10%
10+ years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting.
5+ years of experience managing a team of underwriters.
Private bank and/or commercial credit experience preferred.
Expert experience underwriting jumbo loans in the high net worth, Private Banking environment.
Strong Knowledge of industry compliance regulations, OCC & CFPB.
Agency guidelines a plus.
Strong knowledge of business process outsource management.
Analyzing complex information i.e. self-employed income and structuring complex mortgage transactions.
Track record of effectively communicating with executive management.
End to end mortgage fulfillment knowledge.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
Must have knowledge of Windows and its relation PC Applications.
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus.
Strong oral and written communication.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent leadership skills.
Proven ability to speak effectively in front of Sr. Management, Private Bankers, Financial Advisors, employees and others are required.
Ability to deliver reports in an effective manner with clear and concise material.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to performance manage individuals where appropriate.
