Founded in 1956 and sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Houston, St. Pius X High School is a secondary, co-educational school, enrolling nearly 550 students from over 130 zip codes. Located in a growing suburban neighborhood, the school sits on over 25 acres on the north side of Houston, Texas. The school operates with a 15-member School Board. Three Dominicans sit on the Dominican Sisters of Houston Board of Trustees holding reserve powers. In addition, there is a 16-member Foundation Board of Trustees.

As a highly respected college preparatory school with nearly 8,000 alumni dating back to 1956, St. Pius X High School is blessed with consistent enrollments, balanced budgets, beautiful and expansive facilities, enthusiastic parents, talented faculty and staff, and alumni who are coming of age and success to play a growing philanthropic role in support of the school. The next Director of Advancement will be expected to bring visionary leadership, data-driven strategic planning, best practices, and proven capacity to engage alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends in support of implementing the school's vision.
The Director of Advancement oversees all fundraising activities relating to annual giving (SPX Fund), planned/major giving, capital and endowment campaigns, special events and programs, donor relations/stewardship, alumni relations, constituent cultivation, and other school-related solicitations. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Advancement is a key member of the Head of School's leadership team and advances the mission, values, and strategic goals of the school through the collaborative efforts of the department. The Director of Advancement oversees a team of five.
With the support of the Head of School and the School Board, the Director of Advancement will implement a multi-level Advancement plan that will include alumni, corporate and business, foundation, endowment, special events, and direct engagement efforts. The Director of Advancement is responsible for strengthening and diversifying St. Pius X High School's funding and will be supported by a dedicated and gifted Advancement Committee and Foundation Board. With the support of the Head of School, the Director of Advancement will lead the team responsible for raising accessibility and sustainability awareness challenges to its respected and valued Catholic education and the vital role that St. Pius X High School plays in serving the ambitious students and families throughout the greater Houston region.
While the Director of Advancement must have a demonstrated capacity for broad institutional advancement leadership in a Catholic college preparatory environment, it is possible that the prospective candidate could have attained this experience through a variety of different career paths, including primary, secondary, or tertiary education; non-profit management; or work in the corporate or public sector. Regardless of the career path, the next Director of Advancement must have expert knowledge of and a proven record of institutional advancement by identifying, cultivating, and developing stakeholder partnerships and philanthropic support that will ensure St. Pius X High School's continued access to all, success and excellence in executing its mission, and sustainability for future generations.
The next Director of Advancement will be expected to bring the energy, charisma, and both the executive administration and advancement skills necessary for this school community to build on its extensive traditions and storied legacy, while delivering excellence in a Christ-centered and faith-filled college-preparatory education. Experience in a robust Catholic school advancement shop and an advanced degree in education or business-related fields are strongly preferred.
