 Position Overview

The Executive Director for Texas Engineering Diversity and Engagement (TEDE) will provide the vision, strategic direction, implementation, fundraising and assessment of a broad range of TEDE programs which include our longstanding and popular programs: Women in Engineering, Equal Opportunity in Engineering and Engineering Student Life.  The overarching goal of this position is to increase enrollment, retention and graduation of undergraduate engineering students from historically marginalized communities. 

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with campus partners to increase the recruitment and retention of students who identify as women, come from historically marginalized communities, are low income, with disabilities, are first generation, who identify as LGBTQIA+, are veterans and all with marginalized identities
• Develop and sustain new and existing donor relationships, at times in collaboration with the CSE Development staff and the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, to execute fundraising plans for increasing corporate, foundation, and individual donor support to meet programmatic goals
• Direct strategic activities of TEDE programs including initiating new programs based on strategy and assessments, evaluate existing programs through assessment, attrition and retention data and modify all programs as part of goals, mission and vision review process
• Supervise staff (chief programs officer, program coordinators, graduate students, administrative assistants and student workers)
• Represent the CSE on school and university-level committees designed to promote the success of undergraduate students with marginalized identities
• Support Engineering Student Services programs including collaborating with the Engineering Career Assistance Center, Recruiting office, Scholarship office, Success Programs and Advising office
• Build and maintain Alumni pipelines to assist with programming support and operational guidance
• Strengthen Partnerships with community and student organizations

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree and six years of experience in higher education, college student personnel, liberal arts or communications.
• Experience working with high school or college-aged students whose identities are underrepresented in the engineering profession.
• Experience with fundraising and donor stewardship
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Experience supervising staff, students and/or volunteers.
• Able to work in a multi-faceted environment with tightly scheduled programs and deadlines.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Appreciation for and knowledge of engineering /STEM education and knowledge of impactful student support programs within a large university setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree and 5 years of experience in higher education, college student personnel, student affairs or student success
• Demonstrated fundraising success including large gifts from corporate, foundation or individual donors
• Supervision of diverse staff with varied life experience

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Work outside normal business hours will be required on a periodic basis during peak periods and for special events.

Work Schedule

• Standard business hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Flexible work arrangements, to include flexible schedules and hybrid telework, are supported relative to business need.
