The Rudolph S. Rasin Center for Global Justice’s mission focuses on ensuring our community engages with the world beyond Westover and inspires our students to believe they have the power to effect change, to respond to the challenges of our world with courage and creativity, and to find joy and meaning in their efforts. This is executed through four branches of the Center: global programs, environmental sustainability, diversity & inclusion, and service-learning.
Westover is seeking a highly motivated, community-oriented, culturally aware and well-organized individual to serve as the Global Programs Coordinator for the 2022-23 school year. This is a 10-month, full time position, that reports to the Director of the Rasin Center.
The Global Programs Coordinator is responsible for all areas of programming and support for international students, exchange programs, and global education.
Global Programs Support

Overseeing the creation, implementation, and assessment of the travel programs including international and domestic service trips with guidance from the Director of the Rasin Center
-
Provide support to student clubs, weekend trips, and student life activities.

Serves as an advocate to the international student community and assists students and their families with connecting to the appropriate resources within the school and community.

Manage exchange program and support exchange students

Serve as a liaison and a source of information for international students and ensure that campus services are responsive to the needs of these students.

Acting as a Designated School Official for Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program.

Employ skills of being a culturally responsive listener/communicator and advocate with follow-through.
International Student Support

Serve as advisor for International Student Alliance Club

Support/manage International Proctors in weekly meetings
-
Collaborate/partner with other departments in advocating for student needs: ESL/English Dept, Residential Life, Health/Wellness Center.

Serves as an advocate to the international student community and assists students and their families with connecting to the appropriate resources within the school and community. They will additionally serve as a liaison and a source of information for international students and ensure that campus services are responsive to the needs of these students in a proactive manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaboration

Deep enthusiasm for working with high school students

Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and eagerness to develop and grow skillset

Experience in planning events with student voice and input

Experience with multitasking various projects at any one given time therefore time-management and organization is a must.

Practiced teacher or facilitator leading courses and/or workshops with a range of constituents

Ability to communicate and work (written, interpersonal, and group communication) effectively with a large, complex, and diverse community of stakeholders and constituents.

A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, through formal educational programs or through professional development, and Westover School invites applicants with diverse experiences in DEI and social justice education

Pursual of Connecticut Endorsement A license is required

Self-starter with keen attention to detail and follow-through

A familiarity with SEVIS and the form I-20 is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Collaborating with the Rasin Center for Global Justice to support all-school programming

Organizing and facilitating the monthly international student meetings

Advising student clubs

Organizing weekend trips to local sites as well as New York City and Boston

Partnering with Residential Life on evening and weekend student programming
Additional duties as a member of the teaching faculty and administrative team include mentoring a group of students as an advisor.
