The Baldwin School seeks applicants for the position of French Teacher to teach Pre-K - Grade 6 for the 2022-23 school year. Candidates should have a passion for teaching, fluency in French language and experience teaching elementary-aged children. Responsibilities:

• Design, articulate and implement a French language program that guides students in experiential and cultural learning for a range of learners in Pre-K - Grade 6.
• In partnership with the department chair, develop appropriate curriculum and lessons to prepare Lower School students for Middle School language classes.
• Provide classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically and culturally age appropriate for the children served.
• Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and a commitment to growth for yourself and your students.
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences.
• Actively pursue professional development in the teaching of foreign language, teaching with technology and/or teaching in interdisciplinary project-based approaches.
• Maintain strong communication with colleagues, families and administration.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and course work in related field; Master’s Degree preferred
• Fluency in oral and written French
• Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience
• Strong content knowledge in all relevant areas as well as background, beyond the language, in cultural traditions and history of the French-speaking world
• The ability to teach language through communication, culture, connections, comparison and communities
• Creative, energetic and positive approach to teaching
• Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community and to working actively to introduce students to diverse cultures, experiences and perspectives
• Experience with student-centered teaching, project-based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum planning and authentic measures of student learning
• Experience integrating technology, including Google applications, laptop/iPads, SMART Board, etc., into teaching practice to support learning and deepen projects
• Effective oral and written communication skills
