Laguna Blanca’s After School Care program provides extended care for our students in a familiar, nurturing, community-oriented setting. An afternoon snack is provided each day as well as time to play and complete homework. Emphasis is placed on the whole child with planned activities encompassing arts and crafts, study time, and free play on our playground.
The Director of After School Care is available at the Laguna Montecito campus. Main responsibilities include:
Supervising students during the aftercare program (after school until 5:30 pm)
Providing activities and connection time for participants
Coordinating and communicating about attendees with the Assistant to the Head of Lower School
Tracking attendance and communicating billing to the Business Office
Coordinating coverage in the event of an absence
Communicating with families
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High energy level and positive attitude
Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work with students ages 4-11
CPR and First Aid certificate and/or willingness to learn
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
The most qualified applicants will have previous after-school care experience and must possess a strong desire to take an active role in leading. Candidates should be child-centered, technologically proficient, and possess excellent communication skills. Bachelor's Degree and/or a California teaching credential is preferred.
