Rock Energy Cooperative is an electric and natural gas cooperative headquartered in Janesville, WI and a district office in South Beloit, IL. This position works out the Janesville office. Rock Energy has approximately 20,000 electric and 9,000 natural gas meters. Rock Energy provides electricity and natural gas in 8 counties in Illinois and Wisconsin. Rock Energy has annual revenues nearing $60 million, with $160 million in total utility plant. Rock Energy has financial ownership in a natural gas generating facility and the area’s transmission company. Rock Energy is not affiliated with a G&T. Janesville is city of 65,000, located between Madison, WI and Rockford, IL. Janesville offers all the amenities you expect of a large city, with excellent schools and health care. Janesville is an hour and one-half drive to Milwaukee and Chicago.
- Prepares monthly, annual financial statements and appropriate tax statements
- Drive the company’s financial planning
- Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
- Evaluates the organization’s financing and capital structure
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
- Supervise accounting department personnel
- Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports
- Establishes and improves accounting and finance procedures and processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and cooperative policies and bylaws
- Assists with member rate development and implantation
- Reports directly to CEO
- Makes monthly financial presentations to board of directors
- Proven experience as controller, finance officer or relevant role
- In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
- Strong understanding of GAAP and FASB accounting principles
- Understanding of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) system of account is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods (Tableau experience is a plus)
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
- Electric cooperative experience a strong advantage
- Ability to strategize and solve problems
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
- CPA is a strong advantage
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field; MS/MBA is a plus
