POSITION OVERVIEW:
Baptist Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in Kentucky comprised of 9 hospitals with a combined 23,000 employees, 2,300+ licensed beds, and more than $4 billion in total annual revenues, is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for its three-time Magnet designated, 519-bed flagship hospital, Baptist Health Louisville. The CNO will have executive responsibility for the leadership, direction, and administration of patient care for Baptist Health Louisville. Additionally, the CNO will play a key role in promoting system-wide nursing best practices, collaborating closely with system leadership and his/her executive nursing colleagues across the health system to successfully achieve system-wide patient care and strategic goals. Baptist Health is the first health system in the U.S. to have all of its hospitals recognized by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) with either Magnet® or Pathway to Excellence® designation for nursing excellence. Baptist Health Louisville was voted the #1 hospital in the Metro Louisville area and #4 in the state of Kentucky by U.S. News & World Report for 2021-22 and is a 10-time recipient of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky designation.
Reporting to the President of Baptist Health Louisville, the CNO will serve as a key member of the hospital’s senior leadership team and regularly interrelate with Baptist Health system leaders, the CNOs of other Baptist Health system hospitals via the Health System Nurse Executive Council, as well as physicians, and the Baptist Health Medical Group. The CNO will function in a highly visible, collaborative and impactful position and ensure nurses have a voice and are always represented at the senior leadership level of Baptist Health. He/She will champion Baptist Health Louisville’s continued commitment to Magnet designation, define the future nursing strategy and culture to attract and retain the best nurses, and provide nurses with challenging and rewarding careers that allow them to advance and assume future leadership roles within Baptist Health Louisville and across the entire Baptist Health system.
The ideal CNO candidate for Baptist Health Louisville will be an experienced nurse executive skilled in change management, energetic, yet pragmatic, who brings proven operational and strategic leadership expertise. He/She must have a passion for excellence and be a mission-driven, patient-centric, exceptionally relational leader who is inspiring and will successfully build upon the tremendous legacy and long-standing reputation of Baptist Health Louisville as the top hospital in the area.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- MSN is required. A Doctorate in Nursing or PhD in Nursing is preferred.
- Must have (or obtain) licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky.
- 5-10 years of progressive nurse leadership and/or healthcare administration within a high volume, medically complex, multi-facility health system is required. Experience in a Magnet organization is strongly preferred.
