General Summary
Supports Rayburn Country Electric Cooperative, Inc.’s (Rayburn’s) DER/demand response analytical operations, including development and implementation of technical and non-technical solutions, identification of system issues, and areas of opportunity. Responsible for DER/demand response development, communications, operations, and activities to ensure efficient and reliable service to Member consumers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge
- Manages multiple priorities and works effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Leads analytics and design of DER/ demand response infrastructure and optimization for a diverse set of resources, which may include solar panel and battery energy storage systems, electric vehicle supply equipment, microgrids, thermostat and device programs, and innovative rate design.
- Makes recommendations regarding new and emerging technologies that could improve end-user experience.
- Closely monitors and provides stakeholder input on ERCOT and PUCT market designs for DER/demand response.
- Collaborates with Member cooperatives and Rayburn teams to determine current and future system needs for flexible loads.
- Establishes system-wide planning logic, structure, and standards for Rayburn’s DER/demand response
- Models and effectively evaluates the addition of DER/demand response technology types to Rayburn’s system.
- Identifies opportunities for cooperation, developing partnerships, and leveraging resources with appropriate organizations.
- Works with stakeholders to achieve meaningful outcomes and improvements to the interconnection process.
- Applies DER/demand response technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities and projects.
- Assists the power supply team with analysis within the portfolio and ERCOT market.
- Supports the analysis of electric wholesale and retail rate schedules.
- Collaborates with internal departments to analyze power supply issues and billing impacts.

- Timely shares complete information with others including Rayburn management and staff, contractors, and other third parties, as required.
- Delegates jobs and tasks to appropriate employees, providing complete information and resources to properly complete such jobs and tasks.
- Timely provides Rayburn management with complete reports on work and tasks performed as such reports are requested or required.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive management.
Job Specifications / Skills Required
Education: | Bachelor's degree in Business Field or Engineering or equivalent experience; |
Experience: | · 3+ years of experience in power supply or DER/Demand Response |
Skills: | · Experience and working knowledge of the US electric transmission grid and associated regional transmission organizations and specific experience with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is preferred. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Able to work effectively in a team environment; willing to assist others · Evidence of an aptitude for critical thinking · Proficient in Microsoft Office · Excellent organizational skills · Ability to think independently and problem solve · Strong attention to detail · Strong analytical and technical skills |
Physical Demands | · Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation. · Ability to perform repetitive motions in order to use a computer keyboard, test equipment and operate hand tools. · The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; open file cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. |
