St. Mary Academy-Bay View is seeking a part-time Lower School Computer Scienceteacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Bay View is recognized for its commitment toSTEAM programming for girls and young women. The candidate is responsible for growingthe school’s efforts for more experiential, challenging, creative, and project-based work thatintegrates technology. The candidate will teach digital literacy and computer science in theLower School. Candidates must be committed to an all-girls, Mercy education. This is a 1-year position.
Teach Computer Science classes in grades PK through 5 on computer basics andprocedures, coding, robotics, online research skills, creativity with tech tools,software programs used at Bay View (e.g., Google Classroom), and beginningcoding
Demonstrate ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learningexperiences that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math withcore studies across the curriculum
Experience with tools such as Code.org's CS Fundamentals curriculum, Scratchsoftware, Edison, and KIBO robots
Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies,curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology
BA/BS degree in computer science or related education, Master’s degree preferred
