Blanton Turner is seeking an accomplished leader who will manage our diverse and rapidly growing teams for multifamily, student housing, and mixed use properties. As a key member of Blanton Turner’s leadership team, you will be responsible for working with managers and support teams at all levels to offer clients, employees and customers an amazing experience.
This experience needs to tactfully balance client, asset and business objectives while valuing all individuals, relationships and the culture of Blanton Turner. As the leader of Property Management, you will be responsible for implementing a true Property Management Program that aligns with all of the above, moves Blanton Turner forward as an evolving organization while continuing to push innovation and the status quo. You will be a pivotal point of accountability for delivering great customer experiences, financial results, and operational outcomes across a large and growing set of properties. You will directly lead and manage a growing, diverse team that is comprised of a Portfolio Management team leading over 80 properties and 200 employees
Your role sits within our leadership team where you will collaborate with Principals and Directors to prioritize goals and manage change throughout the organization.
Our Portfolio currently spans the Pacific Northwest, focusing on Washington and Oregon. Our biggest presence is in the Seattle and Bellevue Metro areas and spreads up and down the I5 corridor from Bellingham and Everett down to Tacoma, Portland and the Willamette Valley. We also have future West Coast expansion plans! Your role is to manage the complexities of our highly distributed operation and, to ensure that no matter what, Blanton Turner is able to achieve its main goals:

If driving the financial success of assets is the ‘meat’ of our operations, understanding our clients as individuals and their goals as unique is our ‘special sauce’. You will work with Portfolio Managers and Support Teams to be vigilant and innovative to drive objectives, revenue and cost performance at each property. You will help analyze and communicate performance variances and lead Portfolio Managers to inform better property outcomes and budgeting assumptions as they look at trends across our regions.
Ensure every Resident and Tenant has an amazing and dynamic experience.
Establishing and driving dependable standards of quality, whether ranging from curb appeal to cleanliness to technology. You will work with the portfolio teams as well as Blanton Turner’s support teams to sustain high quality where it exists, and drive towards improved quality where there is still work to do.
Ensure all others have an amazing and dynamic experience.
You’ll hold the bar high for everyone to bring a sense of customer service and belonging not just to our employees, clients, residents and tenants but to relationships with our industry partners and vendors. We work with people, not for them and we want others to feel the same about us.
Create and document a scalable Property Management Program that is boutique and national.
Partner with a Leadership Team to develop and execute long-term company plans that enhance BT operations, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and contribute to the company’s growth and profitability.
These projects should elevate the BT experience for our people and our clients and bring a high level of sophistication to the company.
Collaborate with current and potential real estate property owners as one of Blanton Turner’s operations contacts and participate in business development efforts to expand our footprint with them.
Adapt to and from working internally on Blanton Turner and external to Blanton Turner with Clients and partners in the industry.
Write and proofread RFPs
Lead diverse teams in building and improving the tools, trainings, standards of excellence, recognition programs, performance management practices, and cross-functional inputs to ensure that we adhere to consistent standards even in a very diverse set of properties.
Ensure Property Management and Portfolio teams remain appropriately staffed and that the bar for talent is high and equitable, whether at the Portfolio Manager level or the Day Porter level. Mentor and support people in their personal and career growth.

Ensure all residential properties are in compliance with federal, state and other governing agencies’ requirements.
Lead, define and and communicate legal updates for all BT properties
Develop and maintain market expertise.
Participate in real estate industry associations and conferences
Search for real estate related data sources
Research and analyze market data
You have 5+ years of experience in successively more senior general management or functional leadership roles, ideally in operational startups, or in forward-thinking operations teams at larger companies or real estate management businesses.
You have 5+ years of experience building and managing diverse teams, and have managed geographically distributed teams and teams that include both hourly and salaried employees.
You are an adept people leader, and have frequently been called "the best person I ever worked for" by former direct and indirect employees. You know how to balance high expectations with a supportive, equitable and inclusive culture.
You've been responsible for successfully achieving ambitious goals and know how to coach teams to rise to the challenge of bold objectives.
You are an influential individual and can point to instances where you've been able to align colleagues to find agreement and commitment where it seemed impossible before
You are an expert in financials and P&L and can quickly analyze and assess what might be going wrong (or right!) You’ve produced and driven ingenious solutions to meet P&L goals.
You've worked in technology companies or been a consistent early adopter of new technologies, and are energized by the prospect of unlocking new ways to operate through building new tech.
You're resourceful and willing to do what it takes to accomplish Blanton Turner goals, and motivate others to do the same, all while maintaining a positive demeanor even in stressful moments.
We will also require that the person hired into this role become a licensed real estate agent within 6 months of hire if they don’t already hold a license. Blanton Turner will support the time, energy and resources it takes to study, obtain and stay current with this license.
It would be awesome if you also have…
MBA or equivalent degree preferred.
Experience working in Real Estate in a large West Coast market.
IREM CPM (Certified Property Manager) or similar industry designation.
Experience at a operationally intensive technology startup experiencing fast growth.
Experience in a customer service focused environment and an innate sense of hospitality.
This is a hybrid position based out of Seattle, WA where work from home or our Downtown Seattle Office is available. You should expect to travel ~30-40% of the time (although more is welcome!) to meet with your team, other teams at our Downtown Seattle Office or at various properties (currently across the Pacific Northwest, as well as for in-person leadership meetings and other strategic forums. For the most part, the timing of this travel is very discretionary, so you can plan your travel around your life!
