The Stony Brook School, the premiere faith-based boarding school in the US is looking for a person of extraordinary talent to join its executive leadership team as the Director of Advancement. The Director of Advancement will play a key role in helping shape the future of The Stony Brook School as it enters its second century. The Director of Advancement will be responsible for overseeing all fundraising and communications efforts for The School. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person who will join an innovative, dynamic, thoughtful, and Christ-focused work environment. Prior experience in a fundraising capacity or comparable role is strongly preferred but not required.
The Director of Advancement will oversee a growing team and will have authority and oversight over all fundraising and communication activities for the School. These include major donor development efforts, annual and capital campaigns, events, as well as print and digital communications and marketing efforts. The Director of Advancement will work in concert with a Head of School who is fully committed to raising funds for the School. Helping identify and cultivate potential donors and opportunities will be a key part of the Director of Advancement's role. A high level of proficiency with technology (databases, social media, cloud-based applications) is required.

Provide creative and innovative leadership in establishing new programs for the development and enhanced impact of The Stony Brook School.
Develop and implement short-term and long-term high-impact action plans to engage donor prospects face to face, seeking their generous financial support for the mission and vision of The Stony Brook School.
Implement disciplined methods for contacting, scheduling, visiting, and personally following-through to consistently grow a base of support from a growing number of donors.
Establish and maintain contact with key individuals in businesses and foundations with potential for contributing funds, services, or other resources.
Develop and implement plans for involving a growing and broad constituent base (e.g. parents, past parents, grandparents, alumni, corporations, foundations, friends).
Maintain an appropriate level of visibility at school events where The Stony Brook School constituents attend.
Identify and recruit volunteers for Advancement related teams and projects.
Build an Advancement team that will provide effective implementation of the Advancement strategy of The Stony Brook School.
Organize and oversee various capital campaigns, giving campaigns, annual giving, and special projects.
Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board Advancement Committee.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and education and includes housing, some utilities, meals, and a robust benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, 403(b) with match. Tuition remission is available.
