Our department: Bloomberg's Legal & Compliance Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. Our team: The Financial Technology and Enterprise Products team within Bloomberg's Legal & Compliance Department works closely with our business and sales partners to advise on, draft and negotiate contracts for our technology services worldwide. Our colleagues depend on us for our deep product and commercial contract knowledge in order to support them in closing the deal, while protecting our businesses from undue legal risk.
The role: The Bloomberg Legal & Compliance Department is seeking a commercial licensing attorney who will have responsibility for, among other things, developing, drafting and negotiating customer and partner agreements for a range of transactions, including data content, services, software, and technology. Provide licensing, technology and commercial legal advice and counsel to internal clients. The person in this role will serve as an essential business partner in shaping business strategy, product development, identifying business risks and defining company policies and procedures. Based at Bloomberg's global headquarters in New York, the attorney will collaborate frequently with colleagues and internal clients in an exciting, high-energy work environment.
You need to have:
Membership in the New York bar
At least 3 years of experience with commercial licensing transactions, either at a top law firm or in-house in the financial or technology sector
Experience drafting and negotiating, and advising clients on, challenging and complex licensing transactions
Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to business and technology professionals
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients
Ability to work well under pressure and to provide concise and commercially-focused advice
We'd love to see:
Experience advising in the financial and/or technology sector
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines, often across regions and time zones
Interest in identifying and using technology to improve efficiency
Strong project management skills
