Washington Episcopal School (WES) in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks an Early Childhood Division Director to supervise and coordinate all teaching, learning, and programming for students and personnel in PK3 – Grade 1. The Early Childhood Division Director is an active member of the school's Administrative Team and works closely and collaboratively with the Elementary and Middle School Directors. The Early Childhood Division Director contributes to WES's overall strength and effectiveness and supports the school's mission and core values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the educational leader of the Early Childhood Division
Fosters a joyful environment conducive to collaboration, reflection, professional growth, and quality education
Oversees the academic, social and emotional well-being of early childhood students in partnership with the faculty, counselors, and learning specialists
Observes, supervises, and evaluates the faculty in developing and implementing curriculum; supervises the teaching process; reviews and evaluates the academic programs
Works with the Head of School to recruit, hire, support, evaluate, and retain faculty
Oversees communication between school and parents and meets with parents about issues of mutual concern
Partners with the Admissions Office to recruit, select, and retain students for the Early Childhood Division
Works with the Early Childhood Team to provide a sense of community and shared purpose
Works with the Elementary and Middle School Directors to provide a sense of community and shared purpose for the entire school and to facilitate the transition between the divisions
Plans and facilitates division meetings for faculty

The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent interpersonal skills and depth of experience teaching and leading a range of early childhood and elementary school grades and supervising and supporting faculty.
A growth mindset and an understanding of the relationship between developmental readiness and academic and social growth.
Practice supporting teachers' skills in integrating differentiation, social-emotional wellness practices, and instructional technology integration.
Prior administrative experience, preferably in an independent school.
High levels of humor, energy, empathy, and resilience.
