Landon School, an independent school for boys (grades 3–12) in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Admissions, Outreach, and Enrollment. Landon is committed to boys' ethical, intellectual, and personal development. The Director of Admissions, Outreach, and Enrollment will develop and oversee innovative recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies. A proactive and driven leader, the Director will promote Landon and further strengthen its reputation in existing markets and establish a presence in new ones to attract and enroll mission-appropriate students. The Director will also be responsible for implementing new and data-driven enrollment technologies throughout the admissions office. Also, the Director will oversee decisions and policies related to Financial Aid in conjunction with the Financial Aid Committee and Director of Financial Aid. The successful candidate will enthusiastically embrace Landon's mission, culture, and community to serve as an effective ambassador. The Director will report directly to the Head of School, serve as a member of the Senior Administration, and manage an admissions team of four.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Developing and directing the vision and metrics for enrollment management, ensuring they align with the strategic plan of the school
Advising and guiding prospective students and families throughout all stages of the admissions process, showing initiative and customer-service oriented follow through
Maintaining and establishing robust relationships with area feeder schools
Communicating with all of Landon's constituents, including faculty, parents, students, alumni, administration, community members, and the Board of Trustees, and keeping these groups appropriately informed and engaged regarding admissions-related matters
Collaborating within the admissions office and greater school community to ensure enrollment goals are met and to plan for future enrollment goals
Overseeing all admissions practices, events, and tactics, constantly updating them to respond to the needs of the school and the marketplace, and leading, supporting, and overseeing the admissions team
Working with others in school leadership to develop and advance intentional and comprehensive marketing and brand strategy
Managing office budget and staff and partnering with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure careful and creative allocation of FAID dollars
Creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
REQUIREMENTS
Strong candidates will have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
At least a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, with a master's preferred
Significant experience in leading an independent school admissions office or in high-level sales and marketing work with some experience in independent school admissions
Extensive knowledge of financial aid processes and best practices
Strong facility with data and use of current technologies
Strategic thinking and the ability to implement new initiatives
Knowledge of effective communications and marketing strategies
Willingness and desire to be visible on campus; to connect with teachers, students, and staff; and to work a demanding and flexible full-time schedule, including evenings and weekends
Ability to articulate the value of a Landon education
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to work with others, including students and families from a variety of backgrounds
