Position: Lower School Math Teacher, Grade 5 - IMMEDIATE OPENING
The Baldwin School seeks applicants who are available immediately for the position of Math Teacher,Grade 5 for the 2022-23 school year with a primary responsibility for Mathematics instruction and grade level classroom duties. Develop a warm, inclusive and supportive classroom culture where children have high expectations for themselves and for others, are self-motivated and self-directed, and value and love learning.
Collaborate with grade level partner to provide a cohesive learning environment for all students.
Use Singapore Mathin Focus program as the foundational math tool to provide whole group, small group and individual instruction.
Differentiate mathematics instruction and materials to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of learners in the classroom.
Design hands-on, engaging learning activities that emphasize critical thinking and real-world problem solving while developing skill proficiency.
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences.
Maintain an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress, including emails, phone calls, report writing and in-person conferences.
Create and regularly update a digital classroom page, using our learning management system (LMS), as a primary means of communicating classroom activities to families.
Maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree and course work in related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience.
Experience with Singapore Math and Responsive Classroom preferred.
Experience with student-centered teaching, project-based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum planning, and authentic measures of student learning.
Experience integrating technology, including Google applications, laptops, Promethean Board, etc., into teaching practice to support learning and deepen projects.
Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising and supporting students outside the classroom.
Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community and to working actively to introduce students to diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives.
