The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights is looking for a Research Analyst to join our North American Power & Renewables research team. The analyst will work alongside a broad range of industry analysts developing independent, in-depth, fundamentals-based power market outlooks.
The Team: The analyst will be part of the North American Power & Renewables team which comprises a wide range of energy experts. The research team analyzes policy, technology and commodity trends and assesses their impact on power and renewable markets, with a focus on the energy transition, wholesale power market developments, renewable policy, power supply economics, and distributed energy resources.
What's in it for you: The position provides an opportunity for a successful candidate to advise clients on the drivers shaping markets, advance their knowledge of power markets and work with a highly collaborative team of researchers. The analyst will perform research, contribute to written reports and other deliverables, and assist with consulting projects.
Collect data, maintain models, and perform research and analysis focused on electrification
Lead or contribute to regular reports including power and renewable forecasts, market updates, and competitor analyses
Carry out topical research to help clients understand drivers, trends, competitive landscape, and opportunities
Deliver insights through written reports, presentations, and client interactions
Participate in consulting project development and delivery
Collaborate with energy researchers on broader reports and studies
What We're Looking For:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics or industry-related field required. Graduate degree preferred
Superior problem solving and analytical capabilities. Strong Excel skills are required
Interested in using both qualitative and quantitative methods to answer market questions
Self-motivated and driven to develop new ideas and insights
Previous experience or demonstrated interest in the US electricity sector
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to navigate in a matrix organization
Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,300k to $115,850 . Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.
