The ideal candidate is a listener with an outstanding character who is outgoing, aggressive, creative, active in the community, and transparent. They are an extraordinary leader who is trustworthy and an advocate for the community. The chosen City Administrator is effective with high energy, confident with practical, real-world experience, and respectful and diplomatic. They are apolitical and can build and maintain positive relationships with staff.
The ideal candidate is a visionary who thinks outside the box and follows through with issues. They will be a strong communicator who can serve as a liaison between Council, Mayor, the staff, and the community. This thoughtful and dynamic leader will take Conroe to the next level, bring the best practices to the table, and treat everybody equally. The chosen City Administrator will have an open mind who, does the right thing, is there for the citizens, gets along with the employees, offers new ideas, and works with the seasoned staff without being dominant.
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university, and 10 years of progressively responsible, related experience in comparably sized cities. A master’s degree preferred. A relevant combination of education, experience, and training may be considered. A valid Texas driver’s license is required. Living or being willing to relocate to Conroe is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $163,050-$252,727 dependent on qualifications and experience.
