The Electronics Maintenance (EM) Remote Control Motor Operated Switch (RCMOS) Coordinator functions as the subject matter expert for administration and coordination of the RCMOS Program. The RCMOS Coordinator provides oversight for all RCMOS installations, commissioning, maintenance, and routine inspections throughout the state. Ensures the standardization of RCMOS design and related interfaces to telecommunications equipment and GSOC Operations via SCADA. Independently provides coordination and performance of technical assistance and support to 38 Electric Membership Cooperatives (EMCs) for RCMOS initiatives. Provide on-going RCMOS training for the EM ECS Technicians, as well as, stay abreast of emerging technologies as it relates to RCMOS. Implement fault detection/location technologies to the RCMOS program, thereby providing timely information to system operators during outages. Assist with coordination of RCMOS for ITS participants including MEAG, GPC, and GTC. Functions as the resident expert liaison with several internal departments within GTC regarding RCMOS initiatives including Environmental Services, Relay and Control Design, System Protection & Control, Transmission Line Design, Transmission Line Maintenance, and Transmission Projects. The RCMOS Coordinator position requires in-depth knowledge of electronics, physical mechanics of switches, communications networking, related technologies, and software and protocol languages (e.g. DNP3, Modbus, etc.) related to RCMOS. Coordinating and supervising contract staff for routine maintenance and special projects, as well as, coordination of services and scheduling with external companies (e.g. GSOC's Transmission Operations, Energy Control and Data Acquisitions, Telecommunication/Security and Network Operations, EMCs, and Georgia Power) to ensure effectiveness of the RCMOS program.
Education: Associate Degree in Electronics, and/or Telecommunications, or 4-year Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology
Experience: Eight (8) years installing and/or maintaining RCMOS equipment, installing and/or maintaining electronic data/telecommunications micro-processor based equipment related to SCADA and Telecommunications operations.
Equivalent Experience: High School Diploma with twelve (12) years of direct experience.
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Strong interest or an intuitive mechanical ability. Understand the application of smart battery charging, battery composition, electrical grounding, Distribution and Potential Transformer AC Service Limitations, MAD requirements, ARC suppression, Pipe Twist Calculations, electrical and mechanical print reading. Experience in the use of test equipment such as multi-meter, fiber terminations kits, electrical and misc. hand tools, transmission test sets for communication circuits, understanding networking and laptop computers
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
