How can you benefit EnergyUnited? In this role you will:
Provide necessary skills for the effective performance of the activities of the assigned position within policies and procedures.
Become proficient at the operation of the Outage Management System.
Make recommendations for changes needed to improve the operations of EnergyUnited as it relates to the Control Room Dispatcher.
Provide consistent, timely and accurate communications to field personnel with friendly and positive interface (two-way radio’s and/or telephone).
Coordinate and cooperate with other personnel in performing assigned responsibilities.
Observe all safety rules and regulations adopted by the Cooperative.
Assist Dispatch Supervisor in planning and implementation of departmental objectives.
Utilize the Outage Management System to keep fleet numbers and assigned personnel up to date.
Update and maintain a daily log of abnormal conditions.
Utilize the AVL system. This enables the Control Room Dispatchers to track for safety purposes and provide quick response to outage situations on the system. Crews may be utilized to provide assistance outside their normal assigned territory.
Dispatch the appropriate crews to restore power outages, respond to emergency or hazardous situations, and for all other same day requests as required.
Utilize information obtained from the outage management system to assist field personnel in power restoration.
Be responsible for monitoring and operating radio console, SCADA, AMI, load management systems, maintaining logs and notifies required persons of load management control periods (maintains daily records of all switching, tagging operations and substations work).
Provide assistance to field personnel as required. This includes providing blink counts, voltage history, location assistance, and any other information needed by field personnel.
Be knowledgeable of and able to interface with the IVR system, including the emergency outage agent.
Create, complete, and update service orders in the customer information system
Complete outage reports and enters completed outage data into the outage management system.
Be responsible for utilizing AMI systems to verify meter status, obtain meter information and reconnect meters as required.
Monitor Statesville campus’ west gate access and provides access to those who are authorized for admittance.
Receive incoming calls from electric members after normal business hours. The Control Room Dispatcher will also receive calls from 911 centers concerning dangerous situations that are related to the utilities facilities.
Address and resolve member inquires and complaints.
Promptly and courteously respond to all customer inquires and problem calls.
Maintain current knowledge of the service rules and regulations affecting members. (deposits, connect fees, etc. and other services provided by EnergyUnited)
Ensure that all complaints received are promptly routed to the proper department for follow-up during normal business hours.
Monitor the Priority Service Accounts.
Maintain an up to date directory of emergency telephone numbers for the system.
Monitor weather information from different sources.
Report any unusual conditions to the proper personnel according to established procedures.
Attend conferences and schools as requested by the Dispatch Supervisor.
Must maintain a positive attitude and promote a positive working environment.
Position Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. One-year experience in a dispatch position is preferred. Additional six months on the job may be needed to perform satisfactorily. Knowledge of the electrical utility industry is highly desirable.
Excellent oral communication skills to effectively communicate via the telephone and two-way radio.
Must have strong computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
Should possess a working knowledge of dispatch techniques and practices.
Shall possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to read and interpret maps, be computer literate, and become proficient with SCADA, Load Management, IVR, Customer Information Systems, AMI Systems, and the Outage Management System within 3 – 6 months of employment.
Must have a positive, open mind and considerate attitude toward the responsibilities of the position, be a self-starter, have an attitude of neatness, timeliness, orderliness and accuracy toward the job. Must possess a very conscientious attitude toward record keeping.
Needs to be of high moral integrity, pleasing personality and possess good personal habits. Must be able to retain information of a confidential nature. Must be able to project a good public image.
Must be able to function cooperatively with peers as a team member to meet departmental and system objectives. Must be in good physical and mental health, good personal habits and the highest personal integrity

Where will you work?
This is an office position, which requires the employee to spend the majority of his/her working hours sedentary while monitoring radios and computers. Lifting and moving of weights in excess of 30 pounds is infrequent but may be required.
Job related travel may be required and by the means specified by cooperative.
This position is categorized as Job Site Reporting, which is a work arrangement that allows an employee to report to their assigned job site to perform work and duties associated with their position.
This position is a Direct Operational Position. All employees assigned to an operational position in headquarters or in a district or regional office must make their domicile not more than a twenty (20) mile radius from their respective office.
This position is non-exempt as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act as amended.
