This position is responsible, under the direction of the President and Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs of Union University, for the overall operations of the Memphis College of Urban and Theological Studies (MCUTS). The Dean will provide vision, leadership, management, and strategic direction for every aspect of the college’s operations, and develop and administer the college’s budget, curriculum, objectives, and compliance with university and accreditation standards and policies. The Dean will also engage in direct fund-raising efforts as well as grant solicitation and management in consultation with the university’s institutional advancement office. Further, this position involves marketing and enrollment management, facilities management, and student safety in consultation with the appropriate departments of the university. The dean also hires, supervises, and mentors senior-level personnel within the college.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a terminal degree in an academic discipline appropriate to the college. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in fields related to the college’s degree programs and at least 3-5 years of administrative and teaching experience. The successful candidate for this position must be a self-starter with a high degree of motivation, energy, and flexibility; skilled in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office technology; able to handle multiple projects in a dynamic college environment; and have a strong commitment to customer service.
