Description
In 2016, McCallie established the Center for Animation, Video and Entertainment (CAVE) and aspires to be a national leader in producing nationally-acclaimed videos at the high school level. The Director of the CAVE casts a vision for attracting and inspiring boys to engage in the exciting opportunities available in video production, editing, animation, audio production and other digital media products. The Director oversees, manages and teaches in the CAVE and ensures its learning opportunities, classes and spaces are cutting edge and dynamic and are engaging to high school boys. The position is considered a full-time, salaried, exempt position and is eligible for full benefits.

Responsibilities
Stays appraised of emerging and cutting edge technologies and practices in the field.
Teaches four or five classes each semester, ranging from introductory to intermediate to advanced. While the offerings each year may change and will be determined in consultation with the administration, such classes may likely include video production and editing, digital animation, audio production, and video and digital storytelling.
Establish and lead an afternoon activity program for students to explore video production beyond the classroom setting with the goal of training students to share their talents and knowledge to support other McCallie programs and activities.
Create in the CAVE an energy, dynamism and innovative spirit that attracts students to classes as well as to hang out in the CAVE and utilize resources there even when not in a class.
Advocate for resources to assure that the CAVE offers cutting edge learning opportunities for students, and oversee and manage the CAVE, including its resources.
Be willing to also teach a section or two of photography as student sign-up numbers dictate.
Perform other duties and responsibilities customary to a full time faculty member as may be assigned by the administration.
Requirements
Applicants must:
have a bachelor’s degree in fine arts or related field;
have relevant experience in filmmaking;
be able to demonstrate - through a portfolio or otherwise - advanced technical skills in video production and editing; digital animation; and video and digital storytelling.
demonstrate a deep understanding of, support for, and desire to live out McCallie’s mission for the good of McCallie boys - including both the school’s commitment to character development and the ideals of honor, truth, and duty and the school’s Christian foundation and Judeo-Christian heritage.
Additional qualifications or characteristics desired, but not required, include:
Experience teaching and/or working in video production (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Davinci Resolve, etc.)
Experience teaching and/or working in animation and motion graphics (After Effects, Blender, Maya, etc.)
Experience teaching and/or working in audio production (Pro Tools, Reason, FL Studio, Logic, etc.)
Experience in teaching, ideally at the high school level.
The desire and ability to connect well with high school age boys.
Strong and energetic personal and leadership skills that will attract and inspire students to participate in the CAVE.
