Job Description Summary
The Floor Tech "Waxer" is a position within the line of operations of the company. The incumbent is responsible for performing the day-to-day and periodic cleaning activities in assigned work areas. Duties include routine floor care, cleaning of general offices, restrooms, lobbies and corridors, and exterior areas, as directed, using prescribed procedures. Basic responsibilities may include any combination of the following: emptying waste baskets and ashtrays; dusting, spot cleaning, care of furniture, desk tops, telephones, glass surfaces, upholstered surfaces; basic floor servicing (including buffing, sweeping, and vacuuming), cleaning of fixtures, floors, and walls; and the policing of waste in restrooms. Specific responsibilities for each individual as a waxer will be determined by client expectations, Account Manager/Supervisor discretion, and waxer capabilities and experience.
Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs daily and periodic tasks in assigned areas as directed
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area, including janitorial closets and storage areas
- Performs all cleaning assignments in accordance with company's approved procedures
- Maintains cleaning equipment in good working condition, and notifies the Account Manager or Supervisor if repair or replacement is necessary
- Works safely at all times and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions existing in the work area
- Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed
- Meets all client and company quality expectations in assigned tasks
- Assists in orientation and training for new employees as directed
- Adheres to proper security procedures
- Notifies company management about any issues that may affect service to the client
- Performs restroom procedures:
Damp wipe glass surfaces Empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers Dust sills and other horizontal surfaces. Clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions Sweep, mop and scrub Monitor defects, such as clogged urinals and lights out, and reports issues to supervisor
- Performs floor care procedures:
Damp mop and spray buff, wash, scrub floors Strip old finish, black marks, embedded dirt from floors prior to waxing or sealing Apply coats of prescribed finish as required
High dusting, leather and wood surface (non-floor) polishing, wall washing, venetian blind cleaning, as assigned by supervisor Assembles all necessary equipment Removes/replaces designated carpet tiles
