The pay range for the position is $60,000- $80,000. It This is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience. Colorado Academy ("CA") seeks candidates for the position of physical education teacher. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment. The position begins in early August 2023.
We seek candidates who have strong academic training and expertise in the teaching of physical education (PE) to students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 6th. Interested candidates should possess knowledge of the key principles and approaches for a strong and healthy PE program. Understanding of current PE practices like SHAPE is critical. Ability to coach multiple sports throughout the year at a high level is beneficial. Positive energy and teamwork are essential.
At least three years of experience teaching physical education in a school setting.
An extensive knowledge base of health, wellness and fitness principles for children aged 4-12
Experience teaching students the principles of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play
Demonstrated commitment to—and expertise in—teaching children with diverse talents and physical abilities.
Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued, where rich curricular conversations are common, and where openness to growth is the norm. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence: the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences is a must. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community, which may include organizing and running a one-week Interim, and serving as a grade-level advisor.
