Bishop Luers High School is owned and operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and is located on the south side of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The school was founded in 1958 by the Franciscan Fathers of Saint John the Baptist and the Sisters of Saint Francis. The first bishop of the diocese, John Henry Luers, is the school’s namesake.
Bishop Luers is a proudly diverse school, with just over 500 students hailing from eleven Catholic elementary schools and numerous public schools. Cognia and the state of Indiana accredit Bishop Luers, with the school earning them an “A” status for the past several years.

The rigorous curriculum at Bishop Luers is designed to develop the whole student, challenging them today to prepare them for tomorrow. The school offers seven Advanced Placement courses. Additionally, eight dual credit courses are offered inside the school.
Numerous athletic and co-curricular opportunities provide a strong tradition of excellence and are a great source of pride for the school and community.
The Position
Reporting to the Diocesan Superintendent, the Principal will serve as the school’s spiritual and educational leader and is responsible for exercising independent judgment in implementing a broad array of programs and functions. These responsibilities encompass spiritual development, realizing the school’s mission, charism, philosophy, curriculum, co-curricular activities, discipline, and personnel practices. The Principal collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Superintendent, to oversee school facilities, marketing, and community relations.
As the primary leader of the Bishop Luers High School’s academic program, the Principal needs to be an experienced educational and instructional leader with a deep understanding and appreciation for the challenges high school students—and their families–face today. In addition, candidates will have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the prudence to delegate appropriately, and the will to hold the administrative team, faculty, and staff accountable to shared goals and desired outcomes.
The next Principal is expected to bring the energy, charisma, vision, and courageous leadership skills necessary for this school community to successfully deliver its respected Catholic college preparatory education.
