Description: This unique opportunity combines two critical roles at Berwick Academy. The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs will work closely with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to oversee and administer all aspects of the auxiliary program including after-school programming, summer programs, facility rentals, and public/private partnerships. The Residential Life Coordinator, with the oversight of the Assistant Head for Community and Equity, and in partnership with the Upper School administration, will manage all aspects of Hancock House, Berwick’s 12-bed dormitory that provides a five and seven-day residential program for boys in Grades 9-12/PG. This is a full-time, 12-month exempt position that requires living in the Carriage House just behind the Hancock House. Qualifications: A minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience in a student residential program, summer camp, educational settings, and/or a variety of recreational programs. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Outdoor Education, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Development is desirable. Successful candidates will be organized, attentive to detail, safety-conscious, and motivated by an authentic interest in the experience of students in programs. The candidate will balance the opportunity to develop exciting programs with a conviction to market them aggressively through a variety of digital avenues, including social media and the school’s website. They will have well-developed managerial and interpersonal skills, the ability to build (and follow) a budget, experience in policy development, a genuine appreciation of young people, a sense of humor, and a great deal of energy. General responsibilities for Auxiliary Programs include, but are not limited to: ? Working closely with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to support the Berwick Academy’s Auxiliary Programs strategic initiatives. ? Manage database software, billing and receivables, and other records of importance. ? Support marketing, advertising, and promotional efforts of programs and activities. ? Support the formulation of department-related policies and procedures. ? Co-manage Berwick’s after-school programs which include planning and providing for the safe operations of the program in a manner consistent with the policies and philosophy of the School. ? Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to secure year-round facility rentals, schedule employee coverage, and design contracts and fee structures for renters. ? Plan and implement additional care-based programs for days when school is not in session due to school vacations, weekend programs, etc. ? Work closely with parents, administration, and faculty to address the needs of individual students enrolled in after-school programs. ? Serve on the summer leadership team for the Berwick Academy summer camps ? Support and assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs in formulating policy and procedures and generally, support the Director of Auxiliary Programs to deliver the highest quality programming possible. ? Support and lead outdoor education and team-building events and programs. ? Other duties as assigned
The Residential Life Coordinator is responsible for creating, sustaining, and managing an environment that is conducive to student success. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Maintain and manage the Residential Student Handbook, permission policies, and protocols for residents and dorm faculty ? Working with the Upper School Administration and faculty to determine student support and disciplinary responses. ? In coordination with school Wellness Team, manage residential students physical and emotional health needs, i.e. supporting visits to external practitioners as needed ? In partnership with dorm faculty, support the continued positive social and emotional growth of residential students and carry out consequences as needed. ? Communication with Residential Families, Advisors, and Host Families as needed ? Creating and managing dorm log to keep dorm parents informed of student concerns; ? Plan, arrange staffing and run Residential Student Registration, Move-in, Orientation, Move-out ? Supervision and management of dorm faculty/staff and duty rotation ? Dorm faculty and TA training/orientation ? Historical On-Duty for RLC - Weekly: 1-2 Weeknight (5:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.) and Every Third Weekend (5:00 p.m. Friday - 5:00 p.m. Sunday)
? Provide on-call/after-hours coverage for dorm staff during the week and on the weekends ? Oversee student transportation ? Work with Admissions and Enrollment to identify local host families ? Communication and meetings with Director of Dining Services and Director of Facilities as needed ? Manage budget and receipts and complete monthly expense report
